The Reverend Paul B. Thompson was born and raised in Thomaston, GA. He graduated from Griffin, GA High School, then from Auburn University with a degree in business in 1986. Upon graduation, Paul began a career in the textile industry with Burlington Industries. He then moved to Morganton, NC to work with Shadowline, Inc. in 1989 as Assistant Vice-President of Marketing/Sales. When he answered the call to ministry in 1994, he attended Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, S.C. where he earned his Masters of Divinity. During this time, he also began his first assignment as Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Morganton, N.C. in 1994. Reverend Thompson was transferred to his first assignment as Senior Pastor of Hildebran United Methodist Church in Hildebran, N.C. in 1995. After seven years in Hildebran, he and his family were appointed to Mills River United Methodist Church in Mills River, NC where he served for 11 years.

Rev. Thompson moved to Huntersville UMC as Pastor in 2013 and is married to Tamara Moore (Tammy) Thompson, an Attorney, who is serving as a Senior Consultant for Risk Technology, a Vice-President level position with Bank of America. His first wife, Susan, was an elementary school teacher who passed away in 2008 after a long battle with cancer. He has three daughters, Caroline, Elizabeth and Mary Katherine (and now a grandson, William). He enjoys golf and tennis and is an avid Auburn fan. Pastor Paul's mission is to continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ through the church’s ministries inside and outside of the church.
