The Food Pantry would like to thank everyone for their generous donations during the months of November and December. Our donation total (not including Second Harvest Rescue Truck or Target) was 19,026 pounds. Break down of this total is: area schools: 14,096 pounds, area businesses: 4197 pounds, and Girl Scouts: 733 pounds. These totals reflect the wide base of support we enjoy from our community at large. These donations will help us provide a wide range of choices for our clients in the coming winter months.
We would also like to thank those who support us financially. Their support enabled us to provide each family who came to the pantry during the month of December a bag with these items: laundry detergent, dish detergent, hand soap, toilet paper, a box of tissue, a dozen eggs, a pound of margarine and five or six assorted food items. All of these items were above and beyond those each family normally receives on their visit.
February is just around the corner. We want to let you know the Boy Scout Food Drive will be held the first Saturday. This is our biggest drive of the year. Please consider setting aside some time that day to volunteer with us. We normally need help between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. No experience is necessary ………we gladly do on the job training. We will provide more details in the January E-news and the February newsletter. You do not have to commit to the entire 4 hours…….we will gladly take whatever time you have to give !!
For the month of January we are asking for donations of grits, oatmeal, canned peaches or pineapple. Your toiletry and household cleaning items donations are always appreciated.
Volunteering is a rewarding experience. We are still in need of a volunteer to stock on Monday afternoons and two volunteers to serve clients and do stocking on Wednesdays. Feel free to call me at 704-608-3821 with questions concerning these opportunities.
In service to Christ
